CONSERVATION

 MISSION
 
Responsible for projects promoting increasing awareness of energy options, preserving natural resources, and educating about solid waste management.
 
Beautification in the Community - Educate members about the importance and benefits of beautifying their communities.
 
Resource Conservation in the Community - Educate Members and communities about the importance of preserving the natural resources and stimulate citizen action to address these concerns.
 CURRENT PROJECTS IN 2011:
 
Recycling used plastic gift cards to Earthwork Systems for recycling into safer material.
 
Donating/Recycling used shoes to Soles 4 Souls, an organization that distributes shoes to those in need both here in United States and in third world countries.
 
Recycling magazines to elementary schools and nursing homes in Gwinnett County.
 
Donating pet food to Daffy's Pet Soup Kitchen in Lawrenceville.
 
Recycling unused grocery coupons by sending to military families stationed in foreign countries.
 
Donating items from their 'wish list'  to the Gwinnett Humane Society.
 
Participant in the Adopt An Acre program.
 
 
 
In the month of May 2009, donated flower, vegetable and herb seed packets to Gwinnett Special Needs School.
 
 
The Conservation Section has prepared a small card that is attached to the Lawrenceville Farmer’s Market Reusable Bag which teaches the community about the importance of using reusable bags.  This is an ongoing project throughout the 2009 summer and will be done in 2010 summer as well. 
 
 Also,  we will be talking to local businesses about the importance of recycling.
